Exhibition — ANKARUDDEN
6 February – 6 March 2026
We are pleased to share that Matthias van Arkel’s exhibitionAnkarudden opened on February 6 at Balazsi Gallery in Mallorca and runs through March 6.
The opening was framed by an intimate seated dinner inside the gallery for 60 invited collectors and their guests — a setting designed not as a typical vernissage, but as a considered encounter with the work.
In Ankarudden, colour becomes something almost tactile. Van Arkel’s layered silicone works gather light within their skin-like surfaces, creating depth that feels both intimate and expansive. They do not merely hang on the wall — they emanate. As daylight moves, the tones thicken and dissolve, shifting between sensuality and intensity.
For private collectors, the exhibition underscores the long-term strength of van Arkel’s practice: materially rigorous, architecturally scalable and visually immersive. For art in architecture contexts, the works demonstrate how abstraction can anchor space without overwhelming it — offering presence rather than decoration.
