ABOUT
Fredrik Nielsen is a Swedish artist with a unique flair for experimentation, combining aspects of pop culture such as graffiti, music, videos, and performance into his glass art. His strong desire to push the boundaries of glass as a material have shaped his identity as an artist. He is known for sculptures that appear unfinished and rough around the edges, embellished with statements that challenge the hierarchies within art.
Nielsen studied glass originally at the Orrefors Glass School in Sweden, followed by Pilchuck Glass School in Washington, and finally the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. His work has been featured in exhibitions in the U.S., Sweden, and beyond.
He furthered his blown glass work during his artist residency at The Studio in November 2016.
