URBAN ARTIST / PAINTER

Shai Dahan

English - Thriving his work aesthetics while he was living in New York, Shai Dahan has based himself in Sweden, where he has continued to develop his signature style of fine art mixed with urban references. Having started as a graffiti writer at age 14 while he was living in Los Angeles, California, Shai has always challenged himself to find new ways of creating public art. By attempting to resinate blank city walls with site specific art, he is able to express small chapters of stories. He has evolved himself through stencil cutting, spraypaint, wheatpastes as well as large mural works in abandoned buildings and metropolitan areas.

As one of Swedens most collectable urban artists, Shai’s work is captivating, thought provoking and yet emotionally positive as it helps shed art onto public areas for local passer-bys who otherwise have become immune to the blank grey walls of their town. His gallery work is an expressive way of bringing this urban artistry into a more delicate environment while still maintaining its attractive elegance. Shai has been featured in Gothenburg Posten, Boras Tidning as well as interviewed by Sverige Radio and SVT. He has been featured in magazines and books worldwide, and has taken part of multiple urban art projects all around the world including New York, Los Angeles, Canada, Madrid and Sweden. He has exhibited internationally and has also painted murals across the U.S. and Europe.  In Spring 2012, Shai will exhibit at the Borås Art Museum.

Currently, he lives in Borås, Sweden with his wife and two dogs where he continues to paint and exhibit internationally.
